Hawk Mountain Family Hike
Saturday, October 2 - from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. - Tentative Date
On Saturday, October 2 we are organizing a family hike to the Hawk Mountain Bird Sanctuary. This hike will be for persons of a variety of ages, including parents with small children. We will be going slow, so that small feet can enjoy the trail, too. Visitors, members, and friends are all welcome.
During October is when Hawk Mountain has the most variety of raptors migrating through. During the fall is when you are most likely to see a Bald Eagle there.
Schedule:
Meet at the bird sanctuary visitor center at 10:00am.
(optional car pool is meeting at the church at 8:30am)
Hike 1 mile, stopping at each of the many overlooks.
Have devotions and lunch.
Turn around and hike another mile back to the visitor center.
Walk around the nature enclosure and visitor center.
Depart by 2:00pm.
Hawk Mountain's fees are: $7.00 for adults, $3.00 for children 6-12; and free for children 0-5. If enough people sign up in advance, we may be able to get a discounted group rate.
After worship on Sunday, September 19, we will offer a time for interested persons to ask questions, and Pastor Ben will provide: a map of the trail, directions to the visitor center, tips on how to hike with young children, and more. You do not need to attend this September informational meeting in order to participate in the October 2 hike; it is simply being provided as an opportunity to get information and ask questions.
Click here for Directions and a List of What to Wear & Pack. For more information, please contact Pastor Ben. To sign up, please call 610-933-4243 or e-mail the church office.
